As the President of IBEW Local 22, he has the technical knowledge to understand our grid and the financial experience—managing multi-million dollar benefit funds—to protect ratepayers.
From coaching baseball at South High to serving on the Heartland Workforce Solutions board, Jay Ignowski is dedicated to building a brighter future for Omaha. He is proud to stand with his wife, Trisha, and their two children, Jalyn and Michael, as a family dedicated to the skilled trades.

Born and raised in South Omaha, Jay Ignowski understands the value of hard work and community. A proud graduate of the Omaha South High Class of '95, he has dedicated his career to the electrical trade and the betterment of working families in Nebraska.
Experience that Matters
Jay Ignowski is not just a policymaker; he is a Licensed Journeyman Electrician with 26 years of hands – on experience in the trade. As a 25-year member of IBEW Local 22 and a 2006 graduate of their apprenticeship program, he possesses a technical understanding of the power grid that few candidates can match. Currently serving as the elected President of IBEW Local 22, Jay Ignowski represents 2,500 members. His leadership extends to fiscal stewardship, where he serves as a Trustee for Health & Welfare and Retirement funds, responsibly managing multi-million dollar accounts to secure the futures of workers and their families.
A Community Connector
Beyond the job site, Jay Ignowski is deeply invested in the next generation of Omaha’s workforce. He serves on the Youth Services, Poverty Elimination, and Construction Sector boards for Heartland Workforce Solutions. He has worked directly with Omaha Public Schools (OPS) to support their Electrical Pathway Program—even recruiting a Local 22 member to fill a vacant teaching position to ensure students had a qualified instructor.
Family Values
Jay Ignowski has been married to his high school sweetheart and best friend, Trisha, for many years. Together they have raised two children who share their parents' dedication to skilled labor: their daughter, Jalyn, is a member of IUOE 571, and their son, Michael, is a 2nd-year apprentice with IBEW Local 22.
